QURAN KA SAFAR

Narrated Abu Musa:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, ‘The example of a believer who recites the Qur’an is that of a citron (a citrus fruit) which is good in taste and good in smell. And the believer who does not recite the Qur’an is like a date which has a good taste but no smell. And the example of an impious person who recites the Qur’an is that of Ar-Rihana (an aromatic plant like Basil) which smells good but is bitter in taste. And the example of an impious person who does not recite the Qur’an is that of a colocynth (vine plant) which is bitter in taste and has no smell.”

Commentary
This Hadith tells us that a believer who recites the Qur’an and acts upon it, Allah will grant him a high rank. He is loved by Allah and also enjoys public esteem. The believer who does not recite it but acts upon its teachings is also loved by Allah and people. The hypocrite who recites the Qur’an to have a good show has an evil and dark mind. Last, of all comes that hypocrite who does not recite the Qur’an and has a dark mind and appearance. [1]

May Allah [swt] allow us to memorise, benefit and implement the words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ . O Allah, make us of those who are the People of the Qur’an, who live by the Qur’an, call to the Qur’an, judge by the Qur’an and who recite it, learn it and ponder over it night and day. O Allah let the Qur’an be a Hujjah [proof] in our favour and not against us [ameen]

LIVING THE AYAH OF QURAN – ISLAMIC DRESS CODE OF WOMEN

“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.”

(Surah Ahzab:59)

It could be the hardest decision any muslimah take in her life. When I came across this ayah, i read and listened different Tafaseer of scholars, related to this ayah, searched about the dress code, looked into my closest with the critical eye whether I have modest dresses that could save me from wearing another layer over it. How and when I can avoid this 2nd layer. You can say I was trying to avoid as much I can. For few days I didn’t go out just to make sure, as I wasn’t ready to wear it. My nafs was complaining and saying it’s a burden, you are already wearing a hijab, you don’t use any cosmetic, you don’t do this and that, so you are not attractive for na-mahram and you are not showing off your self. In short, I was doing all excuses I can, and was battling, as my inner was not convinced with my logics because it is command of Allah and it is said to all believing women. How come I could segregate myself from this honor? My heart won the fight, and I started wearing it alhamdulilah.

But today, an amazing incident happened, I was coming out of Doctor’s clinic, one lady who was sitting at the distance, praised my black abaya by saying it’s so pretty hijab (for a moment I thought she is talking about my headscarf) so I went back and thanked her, she started conversation regarding the fabric, clothing, Islamic dress code, etc. when I saw her interest in islam, i took this as an opportunity and politely explain few concepts. She was telling how ill she is, and facing issues. Then, she told about her experience of visiting masjid in our area. I felt that she is pursuing real truth; as she told me her interest in listening of bilblical verses, and she also liked to go to church; similarly join other activities of different religions. Then she asked about the status of women in islam, as her own observation and knowledge was that muslim women are oppressed and doesn’t have more freedom.

To sum up, all that happens just because of my outer garment, subhanAllah. I am grateful that Allah swt has guided me towards the right decision and my garment became source of dawah. To me hijab and jilbab affect people in our surrounding in positive manner. I have interacted more people in last couple of days because of it. They are more interested to know why a Muslimah prefer to wear it, how much we are comfortable with it etc.

I am still progressing to better myself, it might be tough sometimes, but I know as with any journey, it takes time, dedication and commitment to fully love and appreciate what you do for the sake of Allah.

My idea of writing this post, is to comfort my sisters that their struggle is for good reason, and we are doing dawah by wearing an ayah. So keep going, inshAllah a big reward is waiting for us and you are an inspiration for others, none knows when our modesty ll turn anyone towards Allah swt.

JOURNEY OF A MUSLIM TO BE A MOMIN (Part 1)

It’s the story of every muslim, who is looking to achieve big goal after the life, that is JANNAH TUL FIRDOUS and WAJHI’ILAH. The life of dunya is like a set journey, it’s like a game, when you attain one level, another level unlocked for you. But if you stuck in one phase, the other level ll remain a mystery. But unlikely the struggle in the initial phase is more, once your aptitude is built, you’ll have better opportunities to face hardships of next level in skillful manner. I ll discuss first part of this journey related to dunya (world) while in other part insha’Allah ll look with the perspective of consequences of actions in hereafter (akhirah).

The Quran, divine book of muslims, is an ultimate guidance, you should keep it with you all time. It explains what to do and what not to do, to remain on track. Also, it explains what ll come in your way, when you ll be trying to attain a badge or an award.

The journey begins with the dua that may Allah swt be your Helper and ask His aid in every aspect. It shows don’t underestimate the challenges, what is in front of you is surely not easy. So, keep your weapon of dua ready all time. And don’t forget, you are seeking assistance of the Al-Mighty, the Most Powerful. Then there are some don’ts and do’s. If you are looking to score high in the end, you need to struggle hard and don’t miss any award or bonus coming in your way. It’s very challenging, at every corner, you’ll experience distractions that will mislead you from your target. When you’ll start this game, maybe you would be struggling to become a conscious muslim but by the end you ll be a Momin who’ll have titles of Sabir, Tahir, Taw’wab, Muttaqi, Muhsin and list goes on.

However, some of the qualities or titles would already present in you. But for few you would require extra time and inner strength. Each chapter of the Quran ll give you practical and moral tips to ease your struggle. It ll also explain past stories of other participants (nations) who attempted it, some were failures and some were high scorers. Those who didn’t follow the rules have faced the consequences in this dunya but in spite of that, they’ll confront bigger punishments on the day of resurrection. Similarly those who scored high in this dunya, will be honored with many good news.

Let’s see some details of difficulties that’ll come in the way of achieving titles. A muslim should have fear of Allah and hope that his struggle ll have beautiful ending. When there is fear, he’ll be less distracted and can identify traps of his enemy, the Shaitan. One the key to success is be more focused in akhirah. It ll help to score more and more good deeds. Always remember every good deed has its weight and value. Every step should be taken with clear understanding to please Allah swt. It ll insha’Allah make you Muttaqi. On the other hand, when you’ll be tested with trials, like lack of wealth, health, fear of loss, hunger, death of loved ones, abuse of relatives/friends etc, the required behaviour is to uphold patience. If you face all or any difficulty with patience, and don’t complain in front of others, with your actions, words or gestures, glad tidings are there, alhamdulillah you have achieved the Title of the Sabir. Allah swt loves Sabireen and He is always there for them.Being patient is hard work; it does not always come naturally or easily.

Since you have achieved big badges, by maintaining them, you can easily unlock further challenges of the way. But don’t forget, life is series of moments, keep your connection strong with your Lord, the Majesty, Allah swt. We have to equipped ourselves with more potent weapons like gratitude (Shukar), excellence (Ihsan) and forgiveness (Tawba).

Shukar ll keep you humble in the bliss moments and when we realize the blessings of Allah swt, that are surrounding us from all sides. Iman is the one of the biggest blessing, that helps muslim to become momin. It makes him goal oriented and we feel that we are not born without the purpose. Next comes, how to achieve level of excellence. It leads muslim to the level of perfection in islamic faith, the difficult challenge. And just like you cannot tell if someone is a Mumin, you cannot tell if someone is a Muhsin either. And just like it is impossible to be a Mumin without first being a Muslim, likewise it is impossible to be a Muhsin without first being a Mumin. So it goes hand in hand. Level of excellence is attained by doing every act with best of your ability. Ihsan deals with the purification if inner soul (tazkiyah). So we can say, by attaining level of Ihsan, one also become Tahir. And a Tahir requires to be purified himself physically and spiritually from Rijs (impurity/filth). The temptations of the life, ego, show-off, jealousy, discontentment, disobedience increase the rijs of heart and soul. And it distract the believer (momin) from his goals, he lost his awards, good deeds and fill his bucket with that filth.

But as soon your conscious wakeup, re-built your connection with the Oft-Forgiving, Al-Ghafur, Allah swt. To receive His forgiveness, recognize your mistake, and make a promise not to repeat the offense. And do whatever needs to be done to rectify the mistakes and keep asking His forgiveness. It will entitled you as Attaw’wabIsn’t beautiful, that every single opportunity of good, is leading towards the title? Indeed, Allah is very happy when any of His slaves repents. If he responds to the call of his Lord and repents, he will have a prosperous life in this world and the good rewards in the hereafter. If he however does not repent, Allah will punish him for his sins and He is not unjust with anyone.

Beware that every single title is connected with other, if you lose one most likely you’ll lose other, it is utmost struggle until death hit. There are set guardians over you. As soon the time of life-game is over, the book of deeds will be closed, , and angels of death ll take our soul and they never fail in their duty. [1] When the soul of a believer who is righteous and innocent is removed, it comes out of the body like a drop of water sliding off the tip of the spout of a jug. However the soul of a disobedient person fights back and refuses to leave the body. His soul is removed forcibly and comes out torn and fragmented like a piece of cloth being pulled off a thorny bush. [1]

Here big phase is completed, next part of journey explains the results depending upon the scores.

May Allah swt bless us to successfully accomplish high scores and titles so that we become worthy of Jannah tul Firdous where we live happily ever after, ameen.

ALHUDA TAUGHT ME

bismillah2 copy

ALHUDA  taught me a lot. It’s a big list that I learnt in short time. Today, i like to share with my readers so that they would get chance to be a part of this journey.

My journey started with the change in my sister’s attitude, she was regular student of Alhuda . As a family I had a close look how her behavior was changing, and that was positive attitude and confidence. It gave me curiosity to find out what she is learning. And what i found was the connection with Quran and Sunnah.

As I joined alhuda in later years, the beauty of Quran mesmerized me and beautiful way of teaching of Ustadza Farhat Hashmi was the plus. She played a role of a mother; one can feel sincerity and passion in her words.

Let’s discuss what are the keypoints that makes Alhuda students competent, confident and more tolerant, keep in mind the one who understand the message of Quran and the words of Prophet ﷺ could attain these qualities:

Be Open Hearted for the Message of Islam:

Its not easy to completely submit when you are just a born muslim, but iit’sa gradual process, when I learnt the ayah

We hear and we Obey

  (Surah Al-Baqarah: 285)

I was shocked and felt that now its time to look at myself, am I the obedient believer, who obey whatever Allah has commanded? If one doesn’t take the message with the intention to act accordingly then what’s the point to read?

Be Productive:

Another thing that Alhuda emphasized, is to be a productive part of society. Use your knowledge, skills and talent in creative way, and play beneficial role for family, community and society.

Be Knowledgeable:

More I learn more I feel importance of true knowledge; our teachers are well qualified in their respective subjects. And feel pride to be a student. A person without knowledge is like someone walking along a track in complete darkness. Most likely his steps will wander aside and he easily can be deceived by shaytaan. This shows that our greatest danger lies in our ignorance of Islamic teachings and in our unawareness of what the Quran teaches and what guidance has been given by the Prophet ﷺ and Alhuda is a platform, where we find an opportunity to learn.

Be a Role Model:

To become a role model for your family, children and society, one need to have a strong role model for herself too. And as a muslim woman, we don’t need to look outside, our role models should be Khadijah R.A, Aisha R.A, Hajar A.S, Maryam A.S, Aasia A.S, Umm Sulaym R.A, Asmaa bint Abu Bakr R.A and so on. Thanks to Alhuda, for providing awareness about wonderful personalities of Islam.

Be Tolerant and Patient:

Allah has made patience like a horse that never gets tired, an army that can never be defeated and a strong fortress that can never be breached. Patience and victory are twin brothers, for victory comes with patience. Allah says:

“Except those who show patience and do righteous good deeds: those, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (Paradise)” (Hood 11:11)

So can a believer be violent and tolerant at same time? Can a student of Quran could be distressed when one knows the reward are for those who shows patience and gratitude.

Be the one who rush in good works:

Allah swt has defined the believers and their qualities as:

يؤمنون بالله واليوم الاخر ويامرون بالمعروف وينهون عن المنكر ويسارعون في الخيرات واولئك من الصالحين

They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous. (Surah Al-Imran: 114)

This ayah explains the whole purpose of a true believer. Similarly as a student of Alhuda, we like to compete with each other to be Sabiqoon Awaloon in doing good works because as soon as we think about the Sabiqoon, we are reminded of Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen Abu Bakr AlSiddiq رضي الله عنه‘s life and how he was always the leader in doing good deeds amongst the Sahabah R.A.

Be gentle in your speech and attitude:

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said:

“Allah is Gentle and loves gentleness, and He grants reward for it that He does not grant for harshness.”(Sunan Ibn Majah 3688 In-book reference : Book 33, Hadith 32)

Alhuda gives stress to be calm and polite in your speech and selection of words, never have pride in front of others who are less in knowledge, always be a well wisher for everyone and be like a candle, who spread light by burning itself.

I have summarized the important character building points in this article, to pay my gratitude to my institute and teachers. A very quite sad thing about is that teachers does not get the recognition it really deserves. However, they take up source of teaching with humility and accept the support with gratitude. But the most important thing is that teachers are the main pillars of the society. They carry the weight and hold the full responsibility of profession. And aside from parents, are the principal foundation of knowledge, inspiration and greater value for the humankind. that is teaching  the most timeless profession of all time.

May Allah swt bless our teachers with the best rewards in life and hereafter and include us among His true believers and beloved ones, and enlighten our life and akhirah with beneficial knowledge of deen, and  ameen.

TIPS TO GET THROUGH THE LOWS IN LIFE

It’s easy to say “have hope” but tough to stay positive in the face of difficulties.

1- Change your focus – From your problem to their’s:

Allah blesses with piety to the one who relieves others from pain. Instead of thinking of your own problems all the time, take some time to think of others and to provide them with relief. Also, remember, helping others in their difficulties could mean moral or emotional help, too. Try it, it will work for your sadness, insha’Allah.

2- Stop expecting from others:

If we fix this aspect in our minds and move on with life, all our complaints would disappear. Don’t just read this, try to make it stick in your mind by implementing this tip in life.

3- Discover the secret of peace – the Divine link:

You must have noticed that people who have submitted their will before Allah, are the happiest. This is because of their link with The Holder of hearts. Plan something — meet Him in loneliness; do some qiyaam ul layl at least twice a week.

4- Remove the fears of Non-God:

Stop fearing anyone except Allah. Because all benefits and losses are part of your qadr and no one among the creation can interfere with Allah’s plans. He (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) says:

“Do you fear them? But Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are [truly] believers”. (Qur’an 9:13)

“That is only Satan who frightens [you] of his supporters. So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are [indeed] believers”. (Qur’an 3:175)

5- Trust your journey:

Allah says about Qadr in the Qur’an:

مَا أَصَابَ مِن مُّصِيبَةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي أَنفُسِكُمْ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مِّن قَبْلِ أَن نَّبْرَأَهَا ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ

“No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being – indeed that, for Allah , is easy”. (Qur’an 57:22)

Make dua:

“اللَّهُمَّ أَسْأَلُكَ الرِّضَاءَ بَعْدَ الْقَضَا” – “O Allah, I ask you for contentment upon the decision of fate” (1)

One who relies on Allah, and entrusts oneself to Him, believes that everything Allah sends is for a good purpose.

6. Think for the Day of Judgment:

Allah says:

This Day every soul will be recompensed for what it earned. No injustice today! Indeed, Allah is swift in account.
(Qur’an 40:17)

So, if you are worried because of the unjust behaviour of others, that someone broke your trust or demoralised you, just remember: a day will come when everyone from the old ages till the new will be gathered together to answer for their transgressions.

Make dua:

Our Lord, make us not [objects of] trial for the wrongdoing people.
(Qur’an 10:85)

7- Ask Al Fattaah (The Opener):

One of the beautiful names of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى is Al Fattaah: The Opener. He opens closed doors but according to His Own Wisdom and Plan. Trust Him (but tie your camel first!). Don’t think you are losing any opportunity — if a door is shut, another is definitely open. Search for it.

8- Make a plan:

Utilise your free time in something productive — read interesting books, write, paint or do whatever you are inclined towards. Create a schedule for yourself, set deadlines to finish tasks, activate your brain cells, push your mind. But make sure your activities are productive and worthwhile to ensure internal contentment.

9- Make Dua:

Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said that:

“Nothing could change Qadr except dua.” (2)

At another place He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

“Dua benefits in the things that have happened as well as the things that have not happened yet. The calamity comes down, but the Dua confronts it and they may continuously wrestle until the Day of Resurrection.” (3)

Turn each worry into a dua and each dua into an action plan. That will show your commitment to your request and will focus your energy in the right direction.

10- The two stressbusters:

Seek help through sabr (patience) and salat (prayer). Leave the world behind you five times a day. Focus on your salah, make it more hereafter-oriented. Talk to Allah in your sujood, really connect with Him — seeking His Mercy, praising Him, and asking for His Forgiveness. We cannot control what happens to us but we can control our reaction to our circumstances. Patience is on the first stroke of calamity (4) , and it helps us keep our attitude towards difficulties in check.

11- Cut the rope:

And here comes the most difficult step — Cut the rope. YES! Cut all those things that are disturbing you and breaking your Trust on Allah Kareem because He never deceives the one who trust Him blindly. I know its hard to let go, but you have to. Because this pain and tribulation today will be your stepping stone to a beautiful future. Trials are continuous in this life, so try to overcome them now to gain energy for the future.

Smile, stay cheerful and laugh because this too shall pass.

Why Should I Study Qur’an?

It is story of every other muslim, who tasted the flavor of Quran and doesn’t like to go back!!

Verse By Verse Qur'an Study Circle

“Hey, no! I mean what do you do? For real that is?” asked Tania with exasperation.

“I just told you Tania, I study and teach Qur’an,” replied Bisma smilingly.

“You have a degree in communications and you have chosen to teach Qur’an? I don’t get it. Why would you waste your education? You were a high achiever throughout academic and professional life.” Tania continued to ask.

“I don’t think I am wasting my education. I am only exploring a new world,” Bisma replied.

“Well, we have been studying Qur’an ever since we started speaking. Almost everyone knows the basic message. You should offer your Salah, give Zakat, be respectful to your elders, and be kind to your neighbors and orphans. These are basic principles of humanity. What’s new in there to learn?” asked Tania again.

“Yes, you are right. Every Muslim child gets affiliated with the Qur’an at a very…

SIN OF SUSPICIONS & BACKBITING

Surat Al-Ĥujurāt

The Muslims have been exhorted to safeguard against the evils that corrupt collective life and spoil mutual relationships. Mocking and taunting each other, calling others by nicknames, creating suspicions, prying into other people’s affairs and back biting are the evils which are not only sins in themselves but they also corrupt society. Allah has mentioned all these evils separately and forbidden them as unlawful.

Allah warns us:

“O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear God, verily, God is the one who accepts repentance, Most Merciful.”

(Surat Al-Ĥujurāt 49: 12)

As the Prophet (sallulaho’alaihiwasalam) informed us, backbiting is “to say something about your brother that he would dislike.” Someone asked him: “But what if what I say is true?” The Messenger of Allah said: “If what you say about him is true, you are backbiting him, but if it is not true then you have slandered him.”

Allah Most High has said:

“Successful are the believers, who are humble in their prayers, and who turn away from pointless talk” [23:1-3] And “Those who do not bear witness to what is false, but when they pass by pointless talk, pass by with dignity” [25:72], “When they hear pointless talk, they turn away from it”

(Surat Al-Qaşaş 28:55)

The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) was asked:

“O Messenger of Allah, which of the Muslims is best?” He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “He whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe from.” [Al Bukhari and Muslim]

This Surah gives us an overall view of a pure and uncontaminated society in which not only the tongue and ears of the individuals, rather even their thoughts and reflections are not given complete free reign, such that are free to say whatever they want to say, hear whatever they want to hear, or do whatever they wish to do in relation to other people.

WHO ARE THE GREATEST LOSERS?

Allah subhanawatallah says in Surah Al Kahf ayah 103-105,

“Say, [O Muhammad], “Shall we [believers] inform you of the greatest losers as to [their] deeds?” (18:103)

“[They are] those whose effort is lost in worldly life, while they think that they are doing well in work.” (18:104)

“Those are the ones who disbelieve in the verses of their Lord and in [their] meeting Him, so their deeds have become worthless; and We will not assign to them on the Day of Resurrection any importance.” (18:105)

The most unsuccessful people are those who confined all their endeavors to the worldly life. That is, whatever they did, they did for this world without paying any regard to Allah subhanawatallah and the Hereafter. As they considered the worldly life to be the real life, they made the success and prosperity in this world their sole aim and object. Even if they professed the existence of Allah, they never paid any heed to the two implications of this profession: to lead their lives in a way to please Allah and to come out successful on the Day they shall have to render an account of what they did in this world. This was because they considered themselves to be mere rational animals who were absolutely independent and free from every kind of responsibility and had nothing else to do but to enjoy the good things of the world like animals in a meadow.
All their deeds were lost” in the sense that they will be of no avail to them in the life-after-death, even though they might have considered them as their great achievements but the fact is that they will lose all their value as soon as the world shall come to an end. When they will go before their Lord, and all their deeds shall be placed in the Scales, they will have no weight at all whether they had built great palaces, established great universities and libraries, set up great factories and laboratories, constructed highways and railways, in short, all their inventions, industries, sciences and arts and other things of which they were very proud in this world, will lose their weights in the Scales. The only thing which will have weight there will be that which had been done in accordance with the Divine instructions and with the intention to please Allah. It is, therefore, obvious that if all of one’s endeavors were confined to the worldly things and the achievement of worldly desires whose results one would see in this world, one should not reasonably expect to see their results in the Hereafter, for they would have gone waste with the end of this world. It is equally obvious, that only the deeds of the one, who performed them strictly in accordance with His instructions to win His approval with a view to avail of their results in the Hereafter, will find that his deeds had weight in the Scales. On the contrary, such a one will find that all his endeavors in the world had gone waste.

May Allah subhanawatallah pure our intentions, and protect us to be wasted in this Dunya, and make our all actions according to His Divine commandments and accept them as well, Ameen Ya Ghafoor’o Raheem, Ya Rahman o Ya Raheem.
